BACKGROUND
Kakani Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the rights, protection, and well-being of underprivileged individuals in our society — especially children and elderly persons.
As the founder, having grown up with and been raised by my grandmother, I have seen firsthand the incredible effort, resilience, and love grandparents pour into raising their grandchildren — even through great hardship. The family unit often goes above and beyond to give a child a chance.
Yet research shows that many elderly people face abuse from family members over property disputes, discrimination, prejudice, and exploitation. Some are forced to sell their belongings and live in poverty until death, fearing humiliation by their loved ones.
This project focuses on the issues faced by our most vulnerable groups including but not limited to psychological and physical abuse, welfare and health and Social needs. We also ensure that the children have access to quality education by providing them with the
scholastic materials, scholarships programs to those who perform highly sensitize them on key health factors like reproductive health, proper and clean hygiene habits, especially girls on matters pertaining feminine hygiene.
